Decades Decathlon Trivia Train - 10/3
Hop aboard and rewind through six decades of pop culture, from bell-bottoms and boomboxes to Myspace top-eights and TikTok trends. This Trivia Train is your one-way ticket through the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and beyond, giving major throwback vibes at every stop.
Over five rapid-fire rounds, you and your team of up to four will battle it out for bragging rights across the decades. From disco anthems to dial-up internet, go head-to-head against fellow passengers for epic prizes and the ultimate crown: Austin Steam Train Association Trivia Champion.
Onboard, enjoy a lively atmosphere with drinks available for purchase, including beer, wine, and a signature cocktail in the Cedar Park concession car.

For decades, the Austin Steam Train Association has carried on a tradition that most places have let fade: the feel of a genuine excursion and history you can actually experience. None of that is by accident!
Behind every excursion, restoration project, and mechanical success is a small dedicated staff and a passionate army of volunteers doing everything they can to make it happen. While ticket sales go a long way in keeping the equipment running and the tracks safe, the secret ingredient to keeping these experiences alive is people like you!
The Restoration Roundup starts with our online campaign aimed at supporting the everyday work that keeps ASTA moving: maintenance, operations, restoration, and the people who make it all possible. This is about making sure ASTA for all the generations to come.
Atomic Express: End of the Line! - 10/18
Witness this ride to the end of the line!
This is a call to all survivors to hop aboard and party like it’s the end of the world. This ride combines all things vault dweller and wasteland with the charm of vintage railroading. Guests are encouraged to grab their best survival gear—whether you’re a siren, a gunslinger, or a traveler from distant lands. Enjoy a beer, wine, or cocktail while special entertainment roams the train.
This ride is all ages and follows our Bertram Flyer route through the Texas Hill Country.
No matter which end of the world you hail from, there’s no better way to toast the end of the line than aboard the Atomic Express!
Hill Country Flyer - Saturday Mornings!
Step aboard the Hill Country Flyer, our signature excursion and a cherished tradition for families, friends, and neighbors across Central Texas! This full-day adventure invites you to experience railroading the way it used to be, inside fully restored vintage railcars that have been carefully preserved by the Austin Steam Train Association and its dedicated volunteers.
Guests are invited to walk through the train, enjoy refreshments and souvenirs from the concession car, and appreciate the details that bring this rolling museum to life. A two-hour layover in Burnet offers time to explore the historic town square, share lunch, or visit Wedding Oak Winery before reboarding for the afternoon ride home.
As the locomotive eases the train back toward Cedar Park, you’ll find yourself settling into that familiar rhythm—the sound of the rails, the shared conversations, and the feeling of being part of something special.
